Restrict Channel Access by Password

A user must provide a password to join any channel of this type. This is the simplest, but least secure, method for restricting access to a channel.

To limit access to a registered channel by requiring a password:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the Channels folder for the chat community where you want to restrict channel access.

  4. In the Details pane, right-click the channel to be restricted, and then click Properties, or create a registered channel.
  5. On the channel's Access tab, in User, type a password. Users must provide this password to join the channel.
