Restrict Channel Access by Security Settings

A channel's Security tab allows you to grant access rights to a registered channel by identifying an individual or group as a channel User. An authenticated channel User can then be allowed or denied access to the channel.

To limit access to a registered channel only to those identified as User:

  1. Start System Manager
    On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the Channels folder for the chat community where you want to restrict channel access.

  3. Click the Channels folder.
  4. In the Details pane, right-click the channel to be restricted, and then click Properties, or create a registered channel.
  5. On the channel's Security tab, click Add.
  6. From the list of users in your domain or trusted domains, select the name of the individual or group you wish to identify as a channel user, and then click Add Name.
  7. On the Security tab, in the Permissions box, select the Allow check box associated with User, and then Click Apply.
